Arshay Cooper, supporter, advisor, and friend of CCS, will be in the Chicago area for an event this April:

RoundTable Reads, an initiative of the Evanston RoundTable, invites the entire community to hear award-winning author, activist, and rower Arshay Cooper on Wednesday, April 10th, from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, IL. Cooper will be in conversation with Michael Alter, president of The Alter Group, owner of the Chicago Sky WNBA team and founder of City Year Chicago. Together they will discuss Cooper's inspiring memoir, A Most Beautiful Thing: The True Story of America’s First All-Black High School Rowing Team, followed by a question and answer period with the audience. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

A book signing will follow the event, with copies of A Most Beautiful Thing available for purchase courtesy of Evanston bookstore Booked.

    Chicago Community Sculling is thrilled to be able to share an exclusive advanced screening of the acclaimed film "The Boys in the Boat.” This in-person event will take place on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at 1pm The Logan Theatre located on North Milwaukee Avenue in the heart of Logan Square.

    Join fellow rowing enthusiasts, movie buffs, and members of the Chicago rowing community for an unforgettable afternoon of entertainment and camaraderie. Be among the first to witness this remarkable tale on the big screen!

The Boat Race - Live Screening

Chicago Community Sculling (CCS) invites you to watch one of the most iconic rowing events in the world - the annual Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race. Enjoy brunch snacks, drinks, and surprise activities during the screening held at beautiful Guild Row, steps away from the Chicago River.

The event is free to attend but donations are welcome. All proceeds from the event will help Chicago Community Sculling fulfill its mission to provide sculling programs accessible to all including under served youth. Our program in partnership with Chicago Hope Academy is underway with big goals for new equipment, race fees, and coaching. This event is a chance to watch the historic race while building community and supporting a great cause!
